When Broward Sheriff's Office Deputy Brian Tephford was shot and killed in November, leaving three small children without a father, Parkland resident Karen Shannon was moved.
Shannon, who owns Dynasty Cycles motorcycle shop in Coral Springs, wondered what she could do to help Tephford's family. She decided to raffle off a $3,800 toolbox she won at a Christmas party to stir public interest.
